The following questions and answers are from the Setting Up Context Sensitive Help with uPerform and SAP Portal Webinar. The manuals referenced in the answers to these questions can be found in the Manuals, Technical Specifications and Release Notes section of the Intelligence Hub.
Q: Is field specific help available in Portal? Can you click into a field and then press F1, for example?
A: No, we only provide help at the iView level.
Q: What is an iView?
A: An iView refers to any kind of application, information or service that can be visualized in a Web browser frame. iViews appear in a special container called tray, which offers a certain functionality for using and adapting the iView.
iViews are self-contained Web documents that are provided via a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) managed by the SAP portal framework. The resource itself can be anywhere on the Web.
Examples of iViews: Alerts, reports, e-mail/calendar, etc.
Q: What types of iViews can I use with this Context Sensitive Help solution?
A: You should be able to use this help set up with any type of iView, unless you are displaying SAP ECC/SAP GUI in an iView. In that case we would recommend using the Help Launchpad option directly in SAP.
Q: Can I have multiple help documents for a single iView?
A: Yes. When an end user calls help from that iView they will see an intermediate page displaying a list of relevant documents.
Q: For a multiple iView recording, do we need to add the Help link to each iView separately?
A: Yes. You can also add multiple Object Id's/PCD Locations to a single Transaction Code field, separated by commas.
Q: I can't enable help on an iView. What could be the problem?
A: Make sure you have Content Administrator rights in SAP Portal. You might also be unable to enter the Help URL if the Object is locked. To unlock the object in SAP Portal:
- Browse to System Administration > Monitoring > Portal > Object Locking.
- Select the locked Object.
- Click Unlock.
Q: The Help link is not visible in the Options menu for my iView. How do I enable it?
A: Using the Content Administration functionality, make sure Show Help is checked in the Object properties for your iView.
Q: In which version did uPerform start using Connection Profiles for Context Sensitive Help?
A: uPerform 4.10. The Connection Profile for SAP Portal was added in uPerform 4.20.
Q: How do I configure Context Sensitive Help for Portal in uPerform 4.1 and earlier, without a Connection Profile?
A: Follow the steps outlined in the Webinar and the Managing Content with ANCILE uPerform manual, but use this URL instead of the URL that would be created by the Help Connection Profile:
For an iView with an ID of “com.sap.portal.usersInLast3Hours”, the following address would be used:
Q: Do you need to check in your documents before you can generate a Help Connection Profile URL?
A: No. The URL's are not document specific and are static on your server, unless you delete it and create a new one.
Q: The Webinar demonstrated setting up Context Sensitive Help in SAP Portal 7.0. Is anything different in other versions of Portal?
A: Yes. You will enter the URL to Help Topic value as demonstrated in the Webinar in Portal 6.0 SP 17 - 20 and Portal 7.0 SP 10 - 13. In Portal 6.0 SP 0 - 16, Portal 7.0 SP 0 - 9, and Portal 7.30, you will need to enter the URL using the PCD Inspector. For more information on using the PCD Inspector see the Setting the Help URL Using the PCD Inspector section of the Setting Up Online Help chapter of the Managing Content with ANCILE uPerform manual.
Q: When using the stay on top functionality with Context Sensitive Help, why does the pop up window open on the left then automatically move to the right?
A: This is because our Help Connection Profile is configured to display the window in the upper right corner of the screen. It moves automatically once the ActiveX control loads.
Q: What happens if you call a simulation with stay on top functionality?
A: The simulation launch page will stay on top, but the simulation playback will not. As a best practice we always recommend setting Cue Card as the default publication when using Context Sensitive Help.
Q: Can we transport these configurations across the SAP landscape?
A: In SAP Portal, the transport mechanism (Netweaver Development Infrastructure or NWDI) is not out of the box functionality and must be configured first. If you have NWDI and have configured it for transports, you can move the changes from one system to another (from Dev to QA, to Production, for example).
Q: Do I need to make any configurations to get the Primary, Secondary or Tertiary information populated in the Context Information screen of the Step Properties in my documents?
A: Different fields are populated with different types of information depending on the type of application in the iView. For this reason, we recommend manually entering Object ID/PCD Location into the Transaction Code field in your document properties as demonstrated in the Webinar recording and described in the Setting Up Online Help chapter in the Managing Content with ANCILE uPerform manual for the most reliable and consistent results.
Q: What is the difference between entering a static URL to a specific document for the help URL and entering the Help Connection Profile URL and unique identifier?
A: You could add a static link to a specific document, but the Help Connection Profile URL plus unique identifier offers more flexibility. If you were to remove the old document and create a new one, or add an additional document with that same unique identifier, it would display when calling help from the iView without having to change anything in the iView Object properties.
Q: How do you set up Context Sensitive Help for SAP ECC / SAP GUI?
A: You would use ANCILE Help Launchpad. This will be covered in a separate Webinar scheduled for January 2015. You can also find more information in the Managing Content with ANCILE uPerform and Help Launchpad for ANCILE uPerform manuals.
Q: How do you set up Context Sensitive Help for SAP HCM ESS?
A: If you are using the version of HCM ESS that is provided by SAP as a Business Package (a collection of pre-defined iViews in SAP Portal), you can use the Portal solution demonstrated in the Webinar. If you are not using HCM ESS in an iView in Portal, it may be possible to have your SAP Administrators manually change the default Help link in HCM ESS to point to a static uPerform page.
Q: How do you provide Context Sensitive Help for SRM?
A: If SRM 7 is deployed in the Portal, you would use the method outlined in the Webinar to provide help. If SAP SRM 7 is run outside of portal, we do not have an official solution. An SAP Administrator may be able to build a custom ABAP solution which would involve adding a custom Help icon to the page with a link to help.
For more information on providing CSH for SRM 4-6, see the Configuring SAP SRM 4-6 for Use with Context-Sensitive Help section in the Setting Up Online Help chapter of the Managing Content with ANCILE uPerform manual.
Q: Do you have a Context Sensitive Help Solution for WebDynPro ABAP?
A: When WebDynPro ABAP applications are accessed in an iView in SAP Portal, you can use the SAP Portal solution demonstrated in the Webinar. We do not have an official solution for WebDynPro ABAP outside of SAP Portal. An SAP Administrator may be able to build a custom ABAP solution which would involve adding a custom Help icon to the page with a link to help.
Q: Is there any integration or Context Sensitive Help solution between uPerform and the SAP Knowledge Management Framework?
A: No. An SAP Administrator may be able to add a custom link to a uPerform page in the masthead.
Q: Can I add Context Sensitive Help to my SAP BOBI System?
A: We do not have an official solution for SAP BOBI. The lack of help icons within the workbooks and dashboards blocks the ability to add Context Sensitive Help access. An SAP Administrator may be able to customize the Help link for the top level frame to point to a static uPerform page.
Q: Can I add Context Sensitive Help to SAP Portfolio & Project Manager (PPM)?
A: We do not have an official solution for PPM. If there is a Help link present, an SAP Administrator may be able to customize the link to point to a static uPerform page.
