Links in published managed documents that link to other published content on the uPerform website will render incorrectly

Symptoms

Links in managed documents that point to other published content on server will open in-frame causing a webpage within a webpage.

Environment

  • Product: ANCILE uPerform
  • Version: 5.20.9 and later

Cause

This issue is caused by how links are created in affected Word managed documents. The default link target frame sets the link to open in-frame on the uPerform website.

Resolution

There are two workarounds:

Set HTML and XHTML files to open in new window by following these steps:
  1. Login to uPerform website as an administrator.
  2. Click Administration.
  3. Click End User Website Configuration.
  4. Click General Configuration.
  5. In the 'Display these file types in line' box, remove 'html' and 'xhtml'.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Reopen content and test.

OR

Change the target frame setting of your link by clicking "Edit Hyperlink" in the affected Word document.

Additional Information

This behavior only occurs with links to published content in managed documents. uPerform document links to other content will work without issue.

    Hi Deborah,

After further discussion with our Development team, we have determined that this is not a defect. The article has been updated to reflect this and we have added the fixes we have found. We will be updating our online manuals to reflect best practices when using hyperlinks in managed documents.

    Regards,
